Situated in the heart of the world’s largest ski area, Meribel’s reputation has been built on its extensive choice of pistes and breath-taking scenery. This charming alpine resort spans the mountainside, with its lift system stretching up to an altitude of 2952 metres.
The highly efficient Three Valleys' lift system, consists of over 200 ski lifts, connecting eight resorts, so the vast choice of pistes will offer you something new every day. You are sure to find a suitable area, no matter what your ability. Gentle beginners ski slopes line the lower valleys and more challenging blue, red and black runs can be found at the higher altitudes with dramatic views of the surrounding mountains.
Looking forward to next season, there are plenty of improvements to enhance your winter holiday in the Three Valleys!
A new lift for Meribel is the 6 seater high speed chair lift called 'Bouquetin' which has replaced the Plattieres 3 lift. This efficient lift takes just 2.5 minutes to the top where you can access the pistes leading to Les Menuires and St Martin. It is also open for non-skiers who can enjoy the ride and take in the amazing views from the top.
In Les Menuires there is a new gondola that takes skiers & boarders directly to the peak of La Masse, with no mid station. Costing 22 million euros, this 10 seater gondola is one of the fastest lifts operating in France!
The Three Valleys continue to develop the infrastructure as part of the investment for the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2023 with events being hosted by the resorts across the Three Valleys in February 2023
Meribel centre is charming and has a traditional alpine village atmosphere, with a good selection of shops and cafes – not to mention some of the best après-ski in the Alps! Away from the slopes, you can journey on horse-drawn sleigh rides, enjoy beautiful walks and guided snow shoe outings through the altiport forest, take a paragliding adventure, and try out ice-skating and snow mobiling.
For those wanting to relax and enjoy some pampering, the swimming pool & spa area at the 'parc olympic' provides the perfect place to indulge yourself. If shopping is more your thing a market can also be found in Meribel centre each Tuesday & Friday.
Meribel has so much to offer families both on and off the snow. At the Parc Olympic you will find the pool, ice skating rink and climbing wall, perfect activities for after a busy day on the slopes. This season why not visit the Inuit Village at the Altiport to build igloos, have snowball fights, play golf on snow and even meet a musher and his sled dogs. Take fun photos of your group in the giant picture frames scattered around the resort or head to the newly named Elements Park, which was the previous Moon Park to learn some freestyle!
The World Ski Championships will descend on the Three Valleys in 2023, with up to 25,000 spectators expected in Méribel and Courchevel!
Over five days in February, the 25 best men and women in each discipline will split between Méribel, for the technical events, and Courchevel, which will host the speed events. Expect fast-paced and exciting scenes as the elite of the alpine world set the valleys alight!
